Still
insist pass Ministry of Information, Communication and Culture, monitor
and act if there are any parties that promote the celebration of
Valentines Day that stance despite opposition from its allies, the DAP.
Pas
president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang said the party would not retract
the comment stand because it is a responsibility as Muslims and it has
nothing to do with those who profess other religions.
He said other religions the right and liberty to celebrate Valentines Day, but the response at all not allowed in Islam.
"We
did not pull the stand, the rights and duties of religion, free
relationship can Muslims to? (Of course) and that can not stand Pass.
"The
non-Muslims, the right of him (to celebrate) we (Muslims) can not be
tampered with," he said at the launching ceremony at the College of
Educators National Integration and Islamic scholars in Kampung Delek
Right, here today.
Present, the Chairman of the Standing Committee of Education, Higher Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Halimah Ali.
Abdul
Hadi comment on media reports about the fact DAP Chairman, Karpal
Singh, who did not agree with the position passes against Valentines Day
celebration on 14 February.
Karpal
said Pas stance is contrary to the principles of human rights and
freedom as practiced in a democratic country like Malaysia.
On
7 February, a pro-opposition news portal quoted the Deputy Leader of
the House Youth Pass, Nik Abduh Nik Aziz as saying, urging his
government launched a campaign against Valentines Day celebration on the
grounds that it promotes immorality.
Following
that, the House of Youth Pass on February 10 and sent a memorandum
objected to any activity to promote Valentines Day to the Minister of
Information, Communication and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Rais Yatim, who submitted to the Secretary-paper, Norazli Noh.
Abdul
Hadi is seen disappointed with the stance Karpal tried to divert
attention to the difference between PAS and DAP to accuse UMNO as
failing to be the best model to educate and save the faith of Muslims in
this country.
"UMNO
failed to show the model as Muslims, would UMNO become a model, not
only in the moral problem but a problem of education, governance and
corruption," he said.
