Barisan Nasional (BN) and the opposition party condemned the pair
agreed to send Ramadan greetings via Facebook by insisting the couple
should receive the punishment they deserved.
Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng also assume the couple has done an insult. Lim, who is also DAP secretary-general said Tan Jye Yee (Alvin) and Vivian Lee is too much.
"Their actions violate the law. They should be punished. No doubt about it. This is clearly contrary to the principles of multi-racial society. This is clearly an insult," said Lim. Selangor Umno deputy chairman Datuk Seri Noh Omar also uneven on that respect.
"They're outrageous and they act insulted Muslims," he said.
"Although they had apologized but it was not enough. It has already happened. " Noh agreed the couple should be investigated and punished if found guilty.
Outlook
was issued after the couple called by the Malaysian Communications and
Multimedia Commission (MCMC) for the purpose of investigation today. Send
a photo of the couple on Facebook Thursday by saying "Happy Breaking
Fast" while enjoying the 'bak kut teh' (herbal pork soup). Halal logo is also displayed in the picture.
Photos invite outrage among Muslims and non-Muslims. Facebook
has shut down the site after the Commission conduct an investigation
after receiving several reports from the public on the shipments.
They have apologized in a YouTube video submissions sites claiming their actions just a joke. However, the Commission does not see the issue as funny.
The
head of enforcement and monitoring MCMC Zulkarnain Mohd Yasin said the
investigation will be completed this week and the police will conduct
their own investigation.
The
couple was being investigated under Section 211 and 233 of the
Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 and if convicted they can be
jailed for one year or a fine of RM50, 000. - July 15, 2013.
