Family of seven panic, equipment damaged due to over voltage

Incident that occurred over voltages on Sunday in the village of Island caused seven hundred families have been forced to bear the loss of almost RM20, 000 when they are damaged electrical equipment. 
Excess voltage occurs at about 2.30 pm when residents in seven homes involved are using, causing electrical washing machines, televisions, fans and other electrical fire damaged.

A resident, Zawiyah Mohd Yaacob, 37, said he became aware of the excess voltage when the television suddenly smoke after the switch is pressed. "I do not know because there have been cases over voltages has recently returned from business in Kota Bharu. 

"When you get home to hit the switch because they want to watch a television program, but others happen because of the newly purchased LCD televisions and smoke all of a sudden," he said. 

He said the panic by what happened, he continued to close the main switch. He said the event would also cause excess voltage basuhnya machine is damaged, losses estimated to be about RM4, 000. For Norhayati Zakaria, 46, he also became victims when excess voltage electrical equipment is damaged.
"Luckily, no casualties occurred, but only on television and fan will be damaged," he said. He said the incident was discovered her husband, Mohd Fauzi Mustapha suddenly when the fan rotates with speed. "It was panic for a moment and then television is out of fire, quickly shut the main switch," he said. He said the incident was very frightened and willing to sit overnight while the electricity supply restored by Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) after that.
Norhayati claimed he suffered losses of about RM1, 000. To me Esah Mamat, 43, said at first she thought that because of power failure television screen suddenly became dark. "Not satisfied with what happened, but I installed lamp lights another birthday for lasting explode. 

"I continue to close the main switch and wait until night to use the power again. 

"I have lost about RM3, 000 when the new television defective fire," he said. 

Meanwhile, the TNB when contacted The Star to inform the incident occurred over voltages is not due to routine maintenance of electricity supply. 

"Initial investigation revealed that the cause due to the power pole in the village involved coconut falls," he said.
